Purpose: This person would ideally help make the Childsplay network and patron interface more secure and more efficient. Add to knowledge base of staff regarding applications and help save resources allotted to technology for matters requiring high level expertise.
Scope of Work: They will assist with minor IT problems as they arise, train staff who deal with technology to do routine troubleshooting so consulting resources can be conserved. Also, Advise staff on technology matters and help with decision making in upgrades and changes to network. This volunteer would possibly manage update schedules, hold in-services for staff on best practices for care and feeding of equipment or tips and tricks for various applications.
Skills/Attributes: Networking, PC knowledge. MAC knowledge a plus. Able to speak computer to non-tech people. Enjoys empowering the less tech literate population. Ability to work creatively with available resources.
Time Commitment: 5 to 10 hours per month on a flexible schedule. Possibly more if more time is desired by the volunteer. Would like at least a year’s commitment as it will take some time to become familiar with Childsplay’s technology setup and resources.
Work Environment: Pleasant former elementary school. Work could possibly be done remotely. SBS 2011 server environment, Windows 7 and Microsoft products, Adobe and other graphics software.
