BRIGHTEN THE HOLIDAYS BY SHARING THE GIFT OF READING!
Join Childsplay and Southwest Human Development’s Reach Out and Read program to help brighten the holidays with a donation of new or gently-used books! The Herberger Theater Center will serve as a drop-off location throughout the run of Ella Enchanted: The Musical, Dec. 7 – Dec. 29, 2019. Southwest Human Development’s Reach Out and Read program promotes early literacy by bringing new books and information about the importance of reading aloud into the pediatric exam room. Reach Out and Reach targets children who are growing up in poverty and often at risk for reading and school failure.
Southwest Human Development, Arizona’s largest nonprofit dedicated to early childhood development, brought Reach Out and Read to Maricopa County in 1997. The program currently serves more than 70 pediatric clinics and distributes nearly 90,000 age-appropriate books to low-income children and their families each year.
